It really started when Charlotte convinced her friend Lola to let her drop a condom filled with water on her head and shoot it. Charlotte's Durex spec went quickly viral with over one million views and winning numerous awards including the AICP award, the Porsche Award and was nominated for a Young Director Award (Cannes' Lions).
Charlotte Rabate is a French writer/director based in New York. She holds a BSc from the London School of Economics and a MFA in Filmmaking from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. She has directed numerous fashion films with clients including Vera Wang, Nowness, Isabel de Pedro, Lady and Butler, Odiseo and Doppelstandard.
Her short film "Lucille in the Sky" premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival where it received a Special Mention. Her short film "Son of Samila", shot in Thailand, won the Amazing Thai Film Challenge and premiered on NOWNESS. Charlotte is currently writing her first feature film, a coming-of-age story that takes place in Syria and Lebanon in the 1960s.
Charlotte also works as a producer. Her films have premiered at the Cannes, Sundance, Venice and Clermont Ferrand Film Festivals. She is presently developing two feature films, including "Love Comes Later", which she co-wrote. This film project is a recipient of the Tribeca All Access Grant. Charlotte was also recently part of the Berlinale Talents in 2016.
